BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a partial sequence of human gastric juice protein BPC. It is one of the most widely studied compounds in preclinical tissue-repair literature, where it appears in tendon fibroblast outgrowth assays, angiogenesis models and gastrointestinal mucosal integrity studies. Reported mechanisms under investigation include modulation of the VEGFR2–Akt–eNOS pathway and upregulation of growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts.
